Someone Reading Sheet Music

q

  • 4-16-24 Reminders

    • Members were emailed the (correct) copy of "A Wish Worth Making" for those who want to print out the one-pager to replace the other music or if you are using an i-Pad.

    • Next week we will focus on the songs with solos and running some portions of the program. Realize that in 2 weeks, April 29, we will mostly be checking tech and balance with the band and running parts of the program for transitions and tempi.

    • Please try to make both of our final rehearsals (4/22 and 4/29). They are our last chance to prepare for 5/3 and we need the whole team there.

    • On 4/29, your call time is 5:30 pm. You will warm-up in the green room at 5:45 pm and take the stage just before 6 pm. Though we call this a "dress rehearsal" it is really a rehearsal for tech and the orchestra/band. We are scheduled until 10 pm, but we will rehearse the Jazz Singers last so most of the group can leave earlier.

    • Jazz Singers were sent an e-mail with info about this Friday's Jazz Festival at Fullerton College.

  • 4-9-24 Reminders

    • Info for Saturday, April 13.

      • Super informal, Disney preview concert at El Camino College for South Bay Children's Choir and invited guests (Feel free to invite your younger kids with supervision to this). (free) Map is attached. Park in Lots J or K.

    • Saturday, April 13

      • 11:15 am-12:00 pm (probably start at 11:10 am. Guests arrive at 11 am.)

      • Haag Recital Hall

      • Park in Lot J, or K

    • Attire for 4/13:

      • Black slacks or skirts

      • Black shoes (dress shoes are best)

      • Red TCC Polo Shirt with optional Disney Accessories or other Disney Shirt. Ears are OK. Disney hats/caps are OK.

      • Saturday, April 13 Meet at Nakano from 9-10:30 am!

    • Performance notes:

      • Please be sure to have fun with this music. Smiles are always great when you are singing fun music, especially this music! Please also remember to look up as often and as much as possible. The overall sound is better, you look better, and you can follow me better.

      • Watch closely for the tempos of each of the songs, especially the medleys because there are so many tempo changes. Mostly good, but Little Mermaid songs were too slow in general. I may count off some of the songs.

      • Be careful with the rhythms. Do not rely on your memory of the original recordings, but read the music on the page!

      • It seemed we were way over our time, except tempos were slow and we kept stopping. fixing these two things will keep us at 45 minutes. If we have extra time, we may slip in another song so bring all of your music.

      • Please put all of your music in order before Saturday. You will not have time to hunt for the music (except encores).

  • 3-14-24 Reminders

    • All singers will need to have either a black folder or a black-covered tablet for their music at our concerts. The link to order a folder is on the website. I do not have any folders left in the TCF inventory.

    • We will be using our concert on April 13th as a preview of the Chorale's Disney-themed outfits. Please plan on wearing your outfit for the performance that day. If you are not able to attend on April 13th, bring your wardrobe items (tops/head wear only) to rehearsal on April 15th. All men and women will be wearing black pants and black close-toed shoes.

    • Please note there is a three absence maximum for the Chorale. This is indicated on the City of Torrance Class Enrollment documents, website, and in the syllabus. If you are at or are nearing 3 absences, please let me know of any special considersations/situations I need to be aware of.

  • 1/16/24 Reminders:

    • Please see updated set-list e-mailed to everyone. Click the TITLE of the music for a PDF of the sheet music (you can download to view on a computer, i-Pad, or other device). Click the voice part (SATB), accompaniment, or all/full choir for MP3s to use to practice.

    • We have confirmed that CSU Dominguez Hills choir will be our guest artist. Orchestra/band is still being finalized.

    • Jazz Singers return on Monday, Jan. 22, at 6:30 pm. The "little group" is open to enrolled Torrance Civic Chorale members and will rehearse each Monday from 6:30-7:20 pm. Please realize that this group is an additional commitment and if you are not available for the additional performances and will not have time to learn another set of music, this may not be the group for you. The Jazz Singers are performing in jazz festivals on April 6 and April 19 and the festival music is in addition to the Disney music and must be memorized.
